The Tiger Commando was established to protect the Green Life nature reserve and suppress poaching activities in the Gunung Leuser NP. It commenced operation in February 2016. Due to the fact that our common natural reserve is turning into more and more important nature protection zone on the border of the national park, it has to be protected in order to avoid possible interest of poachers in our area. The existence of tigers and orangutans in our area makes Green Life natural reserve a world unique feature which we are obliged to guard.
Four Indonesians have been employed in the Tiger Commando since February. The commando includes: Aril (40 years old), the guard commander, Suria (35 years old), his deputy, Jusli (23) and Bima (17). The Tiger Commando activities are supervised by Zbyněk Hrábek.
The Tiger Commando obtained Canon SX400IS camera from Martin Nesvadba and the Canon company staff. Thank you for your support!
